I took the camera from my office to our warehouse, and without calibrating the exposure and gain settings, without even focusing the camera we are able to scan every barcode in the warehouse. With our [off-the-shelf] cameras we need to cycle through three or four gain/exposure settings to accommodate the lighting variations in our facilities and even then the read rate is 80%. About the only problem I have left is the decode rate is so fast, I have to modify my code to deal with the additional flow of data!
